(Stagecraft) How to: connect stereo-mini-jack to XLR?

To connect a mini-jack to XLR, you need to know what is what.

The XLR connector has its pins numbered from 1 to and including 3:

1. Mass
2. Hot
3. Return

The mini-jack connector has three zones. From tip to base these are:

1. Tip: Hot
2. Middle: Return
3. Base: Mass

One of the cables to start from is a mini-jack to 2x jack. If you cut away the two jacks, you’ll find three cables: an uncoated, a red and a white. The uncoated is mass, the white cable is hot, the red cable is the return. To be sure, check with a multimeter.
